Travel Grants for Students

There is a travel grant competition for students presenting at PRACQSYS.  The application deadline is June 1, 2017.

Lodging

Booking a room

We have arranged a block of rooms at the Deca for conference attendees.  The special conference rate for rooms is $159 + 15.6% tax and is valid for three days before and three days after the conference (based on hotel availability).  The last day our conference rate will be available for reservations is June 17, based on hotel availability so we recommend you book as soon as you’re able to make sure you get a room.

There is a wireless internet throughout the hotel. An access code is provided when you check in.

Parking at the Hotel Deca is $8 per day for conference attendees.

The University District — Nearby Amenities

Hotel Deca is only two blocks from the University of Washington campus and in the heart of the vibrant University District.  Many restaurants, coffee shops and retails stores will be found one block to the east of the hotel on University Way — known locally as The Ave.

Restaurants

Hotel Deca’s full-service restaurant and bar, The District, is in the basement.  Other local restaurant options range include Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean, pho, ramen, burgers and much more.  If you’d like to search on Yelp for nearby places to eat, the local zip code is 98105.

Coffee

Post Alley Cafe is the coffee shop on the main level of the Hotel Deca, just past the reception desk.  There are also two Starbucks shops on The Ave as well as many local coffee shops.  There are coffee stands throughout campus, including one Starbucks shop in the Husky Union Building.

Groceries

There are two grocery stores in the neighborhood:

  • Safeway — One block north of the hotel on Brooklyn Avenue NE.
  • Trader Joe’s — Three blocks west of the hotel on NE 45th Street.

Pharmacies

There are two pharmacies/drug stores in the neighborhood:

  • Bartell’s — One block east of the hotel on NE 45th Street.
  • Walgreens — Two blocks north of the hotel on Brooklyn Avenue NE.

Supplies

The University Bookstore is an excellent resource for supplies ranging from computer cables to office supplies.  The bookstore is on University Way NE — one block east of the hotel, then half a block south.
